The aim of our exchange program, „Kitchen ABC” is – with the help of non-formal and informal learning methods – to make youth of five countries create the intercultural tome of Kitchen ABC by cooperating and learning from each other. The program stands up for sustainability, environmental protection, job opportunities for the youth, while it also advocates local, European and global values. It is one of our most important goal to help youth with disadvantaged background to participate in a program that strengthens their critical thinking, while they jointly plan, implement, assess and popularise their work. We aim to improve five main competencies throughout the program. By improving the youth’s ability to take the initiative and to take responsibility in the society they live in, we activate their entrepreneurial competencies. By strengthening their natural sciences and technology related competencies, youth will get to learn practical ways to solve local and global issues as well in an environmentally conscious way. As for interpersonal and citizenship related competencies, youth will get the chance to familiarising themselves with an intercultural atmosphere. They can learn and accept different cultures, which will also help the long process of an individual becoming a member of the community. Learning to learn is also an important aspect of our program. With utilising the methods of project work and workshops plus peer learning, our aim is to help youth make good use of their newly gained skills in all walks of life, be it education, their workplace or an own business. By organising every single program in English, we ensure that language competencies greatly improve as well.
