Objectives

Alternatíva's main dedication in the past 25 years has been to support their communities and to help the execution of certain initiatives proposed by offering non-formal learning opportunities for those aged between 13 to 25 according to there interests and needs. Our members take part in programs, interactive stands in events and share their knowledge and prior experience during clubs, workshops and trainings. The Association’s most succesful project is the Media Club, which prepares the so- called instant paper in festivals and events within a couple of days, taking the editing process from the very beginning to a constructed paper with pictures and articles, ready to print. This task requires serious teamwork, creativity and immediate reactions, improving higher level of communication skills.. We organize the Y.M.C.A project in the particular time (2019.10.6-14) when Szeged is the host of a gastronomy festival built around the local hungarikum, the chili paprika. Here we plan to involve the participants in the creation process of the instant paper. We will provide the youngsters with a movie maker and animation background that enables them to prepare visual media products in the field of active participation. To have more experience, we take them on a study visit to the capital and visit the National Youth Council where they get to have an insight in the topic of the youth for the youth. For the project we expect youngsters aged between 16 and 25 from five partner countries and plus the receiving country. We expect the participants a certain level of knowledge, wether it is technical or practical experience. The first step of the execution of the project is the creation of an online communication group for the leaders and then a Skype conference with the leaders to ensure the determination of each organization and to make sure they well-informed. Here we create the website for future communication and publication and give the home projects for the partner organizations. We will start every day with an ice-breaker for the improvement of the community and the cooperation in order to foster teambuilding. Among are plans there’s a sensitizing workshop about active social participation and media manipulation. From this we expect to have an atmosphere sensitive to a media and social problems. Then the partner organizations will present their projects prepared back at home. We held practical workshops as well: the participants will get to know the basics of movie making, including its tricks and backgrounds. Later on they can use these in practice when we go on a study visit to the National Youth Council. The other practical use of this knowledge happens during the preparation of the instant paper , when they learn to construct the paper, to make interviews, to write articles an to take photographs. It happens within a very short period of time. Thanks to this, the efficiency and creativity of the participants can improve and their interpersonal communication gets better. We will present and publish the interviews, articles and the paper itself, so the related competencies can improve as well. The closing documents ( for example the YouthPass) will be given on the last day before leave. Then we talk about future plans and the project ideas the countries' members have for there local area. After the workshops ( and before the intercultural night) we'll have a leader's meeting ,where we evaluate that particular day. Three nights we have the intercultural nights with the countries presenting . Also on the first full day we have a welcome party and for the last one a farewell party. Our aim is to get to know the other's culture, team building, getting to know each other and to say goodbye. We plan a City Rally which ( just like the ice-breakers) is the most important part of the teambuilding process. Apart from the development of the group, its main role is to introduce the local communities and the cultural values. Our expectations about the project are the following: the developement of the communication of the mother tongue and foreign lenguagem because withouth proper cooperation a product, like the instant paper couldn’t happen. We also use and improve digital competencies during the editing process, while they constantly learning. The long term goals of the project are the promotion of active participation and intercultural communiation; gaining the skill of critical thinking and media sensitivity .These improve the interpersonal and citizenship competencies as well the learning to learn competency. We hope that as an impact of the project we can create an international network, enable the partner organizations to reach more people and that the youngsters will be able to help their organization’s internal and exterior communication by the use of media tools. Above all, we are willing to give them a proactive perspective so that they can make their own actions.
