Objectives

We wanted to improve our children's attainment in the area of literacy. We wanted to acquire new knowledge, methodologies and frameworks through which to improve the daily teaching and learning in our school. We wanted to make useful connections allowing us to gain further knowledge and experience. We wanted to share our learning experiences and new skills with the wider school community.

Background

Our ambition in applying for this project was to provide the best educational environment that we could possibly create for the children in our care. Our ambition included the goals of improving the path of educational opportunity for those whoc come to education at a disadvantage and of strengthening the capacity of education and training to break cycles in communities with high concentrations of disadvantage. Our aim was also to ensure that any student who might struggle in education gets the best possible support. We wanted to make ourselves aware of the various programmes that are in place for children with learning disadvantages throughout Europe. We wanted to experience different learning environments and to learn from best practice. We wanted to look into training courses that would benefit our school as a whole. We applied for this project because we believed it would be beneficial to us, for both our professional and personal development. We applied for this project because we believed it would be beneficial to our students, our staff and our school community as a whole. We applied for this project because we believed it would increase levels of best practice and a sense of European citizenship in our school.
