Objectives

Unfortunately, this project did not go ahead. The first scheduled trip was due to depart on March 21st, 2020 however, this was cancelled due to emergency measures under ministerial order in respect of health related precautions pertaining to Covid-19. This trip was rescheduled to occur in early April 2022 however the host organisation had now been forced to shut down due to Covid-19 and informed us they were no longer is a position to act as host. Considerable efforts were made to locate an alternative host however, we were unable to secure one within the timeframe.

Background

Kerry ETB are committed to and deeply engaged in the European Community across all sectors of the organisation. In its recently published Strategic Plan 2018 - 2022 a number of the key strategies focus on European engagement. These strategies include (a) The delivery of Nationally and Internationally Recognised and Quality Assured Programmes; (b) Quality Teaching and Learning; (c) Innovative Education and Training Responses; (d) Access and Progression; (e) Develop Productive Partnerships and (f) Enhancing the Working and Learning Environment. All these strategies give credence to closer cooperation of the wider Kerry ETB organisation with our European partners. Cappanalea OETC is one of Kerry ETB's training centres and in the Centre's Strategic Development Plan (2016 - 2020), there are two of the strands (i) Education & Training and (ii) Partnerships both involving closer engagement with European Programmes. Within this primary overarching objective of positioning Cappanalea OETC deeper within the European Union there are a number of key strategies being followed. 1. A commitment to engage with European Initiatives. 2. To establish the Centre as a hosting organisation. 3. To expose Centre staff and adult learners to European educational experiences and pan European employment opportunities. 4. To support our sister schools and FET Centres within the wider organisation when hosting European initiatives. Participation in this project allowed for the furthering of the initiatives and goals outlined above.
