This non-formal project-based-learning partnership, ‘Leadership through the medium of shared languages, informal music and outdoor adventure activities’ between three youth groups from Ireland, Italy and Austria will have a tangible impact on the youth participants’ lives. This project will develop the youths’ critical skills of leadership through problem-solving, creativity and ultimately personal flourishing as well as giving them a viable alternative for employment in the field of music or sport. The learning objectives have been designed by the youth groups themselves after a long process of research, analysis, evaluation and reflection on National, European policies as well as their own youth groups mission statements. Project Objectives are to: • Engage 41 youths from 3 countries to partake in a transformative project-based learning initiative ‘Leadership through the medium of shared languages, informal music and outdoor adventure activities.' • Develop the 10 key leadership skills of 1. Communication. 2. Motivation. 3. Delegation. 4. Positivity. 5. Trustworthiness. 6. Creativity. 7. Feedback. 8. Responsibility. 9. Commitment and 10. Flexibility through our music and sports programme as well as our in-built reflexive practice as outlined below. • Target 6 key European competences of multi-lingualism, literacy, cultural awareness and expression, entrepreneurship, citizenship as well as deep personal and social learning through our music and sports programme as well as our in-built reflexive practice as outlined below. It is clear from this reflexive project that this transnational project fosters cooperation and bridges the worlds of education and work in order to develop critical skills of leadership, problem-solving, creativity and ultimately personal flourishing. It realises the principles of lifelong learning by linking support to formal, non-formal and informal learning through activity based learning in the non-formal and informal setting. This project enhances the opportunities for cooperation and mobility with partner countries, notably in the field of leadership. This project increases a sense of initiative, self-efficacy and entrepreneurship. The nature and design of the project enhances cultural awareness whilst becoming more active citizens in both the local, national European and international societies.
