Objectives

The main objective of “Dance all together” is focused on the presentation of the cultural diversities appearing in the participant countries of the exchange by initiating a process of intercultural learning and dialogue through the get-closer activities based on the folklore dances. The motto of the project is very simple:"Walk in and Dance out"! Since cultural differences are often mistakenly perceived as a source of conflicts, we will give our best to influence people's mindset in order to understand that our differences are rather a good reason for being united. The main goal is to provide participants with the opportunity to create the right perception of diversities and to perceive them as the richness of our continent, not as a point of division. The project would promote tolerance and celebrate diversity, foster mutual understanding between people from different ethnic & social groups and also encourage participants to think about their role in reducing negative attitudes, fighting cultural misconceptions and preventing discrimination. The "Dance all together" organizers believe that this project could leave its mark on the creation of the common European identity in terms of “global thinking, local acting”. “Dance all together” is designed as an open learning forum where the participants would be engaged in a structured exchange of experience and opinions about topics that are part of the everyday culture of living in represented countries. We truly believe that folk elements can explain much about people's mentality and everyday routine, therefore "Dance all together" is focused on traditional folklore dances as a tool for presenting one’s culture. The participant individuals of different gender, national, income and social groups would be directly involved in the teaching and learning. In a nutshell, they would be working, playing and dancing together in order to learn more about each other. Because we are well aware that inside every major culture there are less-known sub-cultures who belong to ethnic minorities or socially excluded groups, Dance all together! project is designed for presenting not only the mainstream cultures but the folklore traditions of the minorities too. Sharing the experiences for better understanding and acceptance of those cultures as part of the European global culture is a significant aim of a project. Each participating group will consist of half of the representatives of Country's mainstream society, as well as of half of the representatives of national minorities of the country. For example, a half of participants of Latvian organization will be youngsters who represent the Russian minority from the economically underdeveloped region Latgale, and the half of participants of German organization will be selected among young non-native people with lower income level. The principle of choosing the participating countries was also not accidental and represents the goal of the project. Unfortunately, there is still a strong bias in the distribution of European institutions across countries, and most European projects take place in western European countries as well. Taking those facts into account, we selected a number of organizations from the countries of the eastern flank of the EU (Poland). The presence of Germany, the United Kingdom,Finland and Ireland contribute to the geographical balance between the West and the East. Ireland, as a country that exemplifies the desire and commitment to European core values, has been chosen as the venue of the project. Through dances, presentations, discussions and workshops on cultural topics, the participants would have a unique opportunity to seek similarities and other points of touch that would bring the youth closer and would give them an excellent chance to establish international contacts and friendships - this is the main priority of the project we are aiming at. The brief summary of project objectives and learning outcomes: • Development of intercultural competencies of the participants;• Soft skills improvement of the participants; • Promoting the European core values in partner countries; • Increased acceptance of dialogue as a problem-solving method; • Increased knowledge about other cultures; • Improved acceptance of other cultures; • More tolerant and positive attitude towards human differences; • Reduced misperception of different ethnic, religious, cultural and social groups; • Reduction of the negative attitudes, prejudices and discrimination; • Establishment of the sense of being belonging together; • Learning the tools for the cultural promotion of the individual's own culture; • Acknowledging the importance of social inclusion of minorities into mainstream society;
