Objectives

By this project, we wanted to improve the skills of Mimir´s staff and empower them to the efficiency and equity in education. Two key areas were important: technology as well as leadership and management in the field of adult education. The original plan was to send six employees to attend the two courses, but we changed the number of participants to 5 people (high price of flight after the pandemic, price of courses went from 350 to 400 Euros, per person). The 1st course aimed at professionals wishing to gain a greater understanding of the most common specific learning difficulties, how these can be identified, diagnosed, and ultimately supported in a positive and effective way. The aim of the 2nd course was to introduce the concepts of innovation & leadership and the necessary skills for future innovators and leaders. The course also addressed the issue of teaching innovation & leadership and the requirements for a stimulating learning environment. It also provided participants with examples of how innovators can be motivated, and the importance of “passion” in creating future leaders. Furthermore, the course debated the challenges for teachers of the Twenty-first century, such as teamwork, specialization, risk, and creativity.

Background

The goal of Mimir is to provide students (migrants and others), with short formal education, study opportunities where quality, flexibility, innovation, and good relations are key components. While serving diverse student populations, we aim at adapting curricula, methods, and pedagogical approaches to modern needs. Career and study counsellors support students to fulfill their goals. Mimir´s staff needs study opportunities, making the most of modern technology. This is vital for realizing long-term goals. All the above relates to the institution´s need for intended participation in this project and to learn from best practices in Europe. Participation in Erasmus+ courses has benefitted the staff of Mimir. It has widened our horizon and helped us to increase accessibility of disadvantaged groups to education. The Erasmus + courses provided by ShipCon https://shipcon.eu.com/about-shipcon/ were ideal for us. The new experience and knowledge increased the staff’s interest in European cooperation and the wish to participate in courses which are inspired by Erasmus+.
