The crisis has hit the young population hard and fighting youth unemployment remains a priority. According to the Investing In Europe's Youth report which has been published in 2017 by the European Commission, more than 4.2 million young people (aged 15-24 years) were unemployed in 2016 in the EU. The EU youth unemployment rate is more than double the overall unemployment rate (around 19% compared with 9% in 2016). https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=COM:2016:940:FIN Also, The level of youth unemployment remains very high in several EU Member States, and there is increased awareness of the economic and social consequences associated with long‑term disengagement from the labour market. In light of the high potential of entrepreneurs to create employment and sustainable growth, promoting youth entrepreneurship and making Europe more entrepreneur‑friendly has recently become a priority on the EU policy agenda.Despite the high policy interest in youth entrepreneurship, only a very small minority of young people in work opted for self‑employment in 2017. Only %4.1 of young people were self employed in 2017.Youth face a number of key barriers to business creation and self-employment. Youth (18-30 years old) in the European Union were slightly less likely than adults to feel that they had the knowledge and skills for entrepreneurship over the 2012-16 period (36.0% vs. 41.9% for adults). A similar result was found in OECD economies over the same period (37.8% vs. 44.1% for adults). Further, nearly half of youth in the European Union viewed fear of failure as a barrier to entrepreneurship (46.6%) over this period. This proportion was above the proportion for OECD countries (39.6%). https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/the-missing-entrepreneurs-2017_5jfnkqgg9qls.pdf?itemId=%2Fcontent%2Fpublication%2F9789264283602-en&mimeType=pdf The project aims to create awareness on youth unemployment,to focus on ways for promoting youth employment, to assist the young people to have a vision for their career, to develop entrepreneurship skills and values of young people with reference to the economic and social realities of Europe.
