Objectives

In line with the EU objectives of the 2020 Strategy and ET 2020, VET#DIGITAL offered to young participants the opportunity to verify and deepen their curricular skills: professionalism in their specific area of study (TOURISM and CULTURE), transversal skills, cultural knowledge and linguistic preparation. These general objectives have been pursued through a mobility experience consisting of an internship of 1 MONTH for 144 STUDENTS (including 20 students with SPECIAL NEEDS) of CLASSES IV of the Tuscan VET schools (Technical Institutes for Tourism and Catering) of the regional consortium. The Project also promoted the comparison and transfer of good training practices by linking our VET system with the training and working system of other European companies and contributed to the consolidation of the ECVET system among the participating organisations of the regional consortium.

Background

Tuscany continues to be a popular destination for foreign tourists. According to the Tuscany Region Tourism Database, visitors from abroad, in the first six months of 2018, have been almost 47ml (2ml of tourists more than the same period of 2017). However, from what emerges from the e-Tourism Report 2018 "The growth of tourism in Italy, despite the inadequate digital offer", realized by BEM Research, the positive trend in terms of inflow of tourists does not correspond to an adequate development of the digital offer and the quality of the services of the companies of the tourism and cultural sectors. Digital skills for the management of internal processes and customer care, models and tools of digital marketing and social media strategy are, in particular, the skills most requested by the Tuscan tourism and cultural sector.
