Objectives

The intent was to start a process of capacity building that can be spent in a national and transnational dimension. Job shadowing activities for teachers helped to: • increase knowledge about the tools for monitoring ASL paths and for assessing the skills acquired; • improve skills and abilities in managing relations with the business world, nationally and abroad; • acquire knowledge on bureaucratic and organizational issues, necessary for the development of student mobility, and on ECVET tools for the enhancement of the paths undertaken and the recognition of skills. The internship activities for the students made it possible to: • make them acquire knowledge, skills and technical abilities regarding professional profiles consistent with the students' study directions; • enhance soft skills; • improve foreign language skills, with positive effects on academic results in language subjects.

Background

The "Enzo Ferrari" Higher Education Institute of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto is located in a historically difficult context. It is attended by a total current audience of about 500 students. The numerous cases of school dropout are evident, deriving from factors such as the level of education of the parents, the area and conditions of residence, the possible belonging to cultural / linguistic minorities, emotional shortages, the absence of a valid family support network, the need to contribute to the family economy, certainly exacerbated by the current situation of discontinuity in face-to-face teaching, which has weighed heavily on the weakest groups. In this context, aggravated by a still worrying regional rate of youth unemployment, the project proposal "S.C.H.O.O.L. - Support Competences through High Opportunities Of Learning "which, albeit with the necessary implementation difficulties linked to the obstacles caused by the pandemic period, constituted an important step for the internationalization of the professional training provided and for the improvement of European relations in order to shorten distances between schools and the international labor market.
