Forma Camera has embarked on a specific path on European mobility for VET students starting from the tourism sector aiming at making mobility an integral part of the educational curriculum and inviting local actors to join together to implement network strategies. The main objective of the project is promoting the students’ employability in the touristic and hospitality sector by improving their transversal and technical-professional skills. The aim is to allow students to carry out work experiences in a European company and recognize the skills acquired in their educational curriculum. It is proposed to have an impact on the school system by allowing the participation in Erasmus of schools that alone would not be able. It also intends to increase the school staff’s skills regarding the management of mobility actions and strengthen the role of mobility coordinators in each school as points of reference for students and colleagues. Finally, it is intended to strengthen collaboration between the main players in local training to integrate and promote local policies in pursuit of the 2014-20 strategies.
Italy is ranked among the last positions for youth employment among EU countries. The Europe 2020 Strategy asks us to renew the VET system to enable young people to acquire useful skills to improve their employability. Tourism is a distinctive sector in Italy and it can support youth employment. Educational and work mobility abroad stimulates the capacity for youth (re)innovation. A common strategy is needed among the actors involved to offer the opportunity to as many students as possible. The ETHOS II consortium includes 2nd grade secondary schools with a quality educational offer, international project initiatives and awards; Forma Camera (a public body specialised in training and specialisation courses) as a link between companies and the training system; the iMove association which brings together European VET mobility consortia with a working methodology aimed at reaching the target of 6% of students in mobility set by ET2020; 11 European host partners specialised in offering training experiences along with students' studies and increasing their post-qualification employability.
