Objectives

iMech 4.0 had the following objectives: - Promote social inclusion and employability of young people in vocational training at the end of their journey by encouraging personal development and lifelong learning. Participants will acquire key and professional skills to successfully achieve the qualification, switch to other training or easily enter the labour market. - Making mobility a reality of the educational system in Lombardy with the aim of: increasing the attractiveness of vocational training and strengthening regional cooperation between formal and non- formal education for the creation of an infrastructure for VET mobility in Lombardy, increasingly involving stakeholders of the territory.

Background

The iMech 4.0: Inclusive MECHatronic and thermoelectric VET provision on industry 4.0 project was launched in 2019 as a result of CNOS-FAP Lombardy's intention to continue the internationalisation strategy at the regional level started in 2016 with the TECOD project. The project was submitted in response to the need for specialised skills in the field of mechanics and mechatronics by the Lombard labour market, which is characterised by numerous excellences in this sector. Students are therefore required to have specific professional skills dictated by the ongoing processes of adapting production to Industry 4.0. Such change includes knowledge of aspects related to digitization and robotics to name only the most important ones. The consortium, led by CNOS-FAP Lombardy, brought together initially 5 VET centers, 1 secondary school and 1 association that promotes quality training mobility in Europe. Thanks to the success of the valorisation strategy 1 additional VET center has joined the consortium during the implementation phase.
