Objectives

In the light of these critical issues, the consortium has defined the following objectives: - Strengthening motivation and work orientation of students through internships abroad; - Developing recognition and validation of learners' competences through ECVET; - Projecting abroad the territorial limits of carrying out internships; - Fostering learners' personal growth; - Strengthening learners' linguistic and multicultural competences; - Providing European awareness and internationalization education to students and school staff; - Strengthening the quality of the educational offer; - Developing a collective awareness of the practice of undertaking placements abroad, involving, among others, local and international companies, civil society, policy makers and public bodies; - Improving the capacity to provide placements abroad in a cohesive and efficient manner, sharing good practice, pooling complementary skills and contacts, centralizing services related to the organisation and management of mobility; - Strengthening the number and quality of the consortium's transnational relations, developing new contacts and cooperation opportunities.

Background

The TURBO project was promoted by a consortium composed of 4 institutions (ITCS Rosa Luxemburg, IFOM, Istituto Elsa Morante, IISS Meucci) and 2 sector stakeholders (CNA Bologna and the Europe Direct desk of the Emilia-Romagna Region). The consortium feels the need to ensure the educational success of its students in the field of Tourism, reducing drop-outs, improving exit skills and offering more employment opportunities. In fact, the consortium has observed that: - the economic sector of tourism is experiencing great development; - the innovation and internationalisation of tourism services increases the gap between labour market needs and learners' exit skills; - the high drop-out rate increases this gap even further, together with worrying youth unemployment figures. Starting from this analysis, the consortium finds its motivation to aim at: - improve their attractiveness in order to reduce drop-outs and address the imbalance between the job offer in the tourism sector and the availability of graduates in the sector; - improve the outgoing skills of its learners, bridging the skill-mismatch between these and those required by the labour market.
