Objectives

Despite the effects of the pandemic on tourism (and more generally on the economy), which as regards internships, involved a significant reduction in the availability of possible host companies, it was strongly advocated to carry out mobility with internships in the presence, so that participants could live the corporate life to all intents and purposes. The project aimed to propose experiences about different ways of business organisation, in which the necessary soft skills were evident: proactivity, sharing, teamwork, but also the ability to analyze and solve problems, to exercise responsibility in choices and taking on a task. It was also aimed to strengthen language proficiency and the use of digital tools. Alongside these skills, which represent an added value in job placement and employability, the project wanted to increase in the participants the sense of belonging to the European community through immersion in a different culture, knowledge of other places and people, relationships with students from other countries. Diversity was also integrated by encouraging the participation of students with fewer opportunities.

Background

The project was carried out by a consortium consisting of three technical-professional institutes and a Liceo high school in the Marche region, coordinated by the I.I.S. “A. Panzini”, located in Senigallia. Conceived in continuity with the previous edition, the project was based on the reflection that various traditional professional figures in the tourism sector are increasingly subject to changes, and in order to be able to cope with this challenge, it becomes essential to possess, in addition to technical skills in the sector, adequate linguistic, relational, intercultural skills too. So the project aimed to create internship experiences in companies, abroad, in which to activate or exercise skills that can be spent in different professional fields, first of all the mother-competence of "learning to learn".
