The pandemic strongly influenced the economic activities and the internships both directly and indirectly. We had to face the following: the drastic decrease of job opportunities and firms capable of hosting learners; the range of activities available in 2021 due to social and physical distancing: smart working as Governments strongly recommended. The learners came from senior secondary schools specialised in foreign languages, humanities, scientific and artistic studies. At the end of their course study, most of them usually go to university to complete their education. The learners’ internship outcomes were influenced by their school profiles and, last but not least, by the limited range of internships due to the pandemic. Consequently, the internships focused mainly on the knowledge/experience of the work environment in presence rather than on technical-professional competences. The aim of the project was to consolidate communicative skills in the foreign languages, multicultural awareness, as well as to strengthen personality: self-esteem, independence, self-knowledge, awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses. The project also meant to re-train the learners’ capacity to face and solve problems after the long forced lock-down often dominated by resignation and delegation. Staff mobility was carried out to increase the teachers’ professional and language competences in order to improve teaching and methodology in each school.
The project FSW “From school to work” 2019 was carried out by a Consortium of 3 senior secondary schools located in Bassano del Grappa (VI) and coordinated by Liceo “G.B. Brocchi”. Despite the pandemic difficulties, the consortium managed to accomplish the Erasmus mobility so to give its students the chance to develop the indispensable competences they needed/would need to be citizens open to multiculturalism, fit for a more and more international socio-economic context, as the mission of the consortium states. The project includes also Staff mobility which was meant to increase the European quality of the schools involved.
