Objectives

The project envisaged that, in addition to general and specific technical skills in the area of promotion and enhancement of the territory and heritage, the participants also developed the ability to tell about a territory, a service, a museum, a landscape, a tourist or oenological or gastronomic product. In post-internship activities, they will have to carry out the same work in the local area and they will have the opportunity to put to good use what they have acquired abroad. Participants were recruited from recent high school graduates, newly qualified within one calendar year of mobility, and students attending the last year of VET schools. The calls to recruit participants were addressed to youngsters resident in the Lombardy Region and in a "transversal" way in relation to the VET schools of origin in order to give opportunities to those who otherwise could not have. In selecting the participants, Mistral aimed at the objectives of combating gender, racial and ethnic discrimination. In the preparation of the training modules and internship agreements, the Learning Outcomes were congruent with the professional profiles indicated in the national prepertoire for qualifications and professional diplomas, approved at the State-Regions conference on 1 August 2019

Background

The "EUROPEAN LANDSCAPES-2-: Training for tourism and cultural identity" project is the development of a previous project in the area of promotion and enhancement of the territory and local heritage. Mistral is involved in issues relating to the labor market, training, counseling and sustainable tourism. Our main objective is to contribute to the cultural and economic growth of the area, to its enhancement and to the inclusion in the social composition of young people and disadvantaged people. In pursuing this goal, our organisation pays particular attention to the sustainable development of the area in which we operate. The territory of the Lombardy Region, historically characterized by industrial activities, has always been little valued from a tourist point of view: despite the fact that there is the first UNESCO site recognized in Italy, other UNESCO sites, lakes and in particular that of Garda, which has extraordinary landscapes and microclimate tourism is still not considered as a great potential for the development and protection of the territory and landscape. Our identity heritage is lacking from the point of view of the narrative of the historical and cultural heritage and still there is not a common narrative of the local, historical, cultural, food and wine patrimony. From our point of view, transnational mobility as a fundamental tool for the development of skills of young people, for their insertion into the social and working fabric and for supporting the sustainable development of the territory. Mobility linked to vocational training abroad bridges the gap between skills necessary for sustainable development of the territory and those possessed at school level, strengthens national and transnational networks through the exchange of good practices and experiences. During the preparatory activities, the support of an actor-director is also foreseen so that the participants are able to take possession of tools to identify the common denominator of the narrative of the locality and the foreign landscape in which they will carry out the internship, each in their own field: environmental, cultural , food and wine, agriculture, architecture.
