This project was initially implemented with the objective of carrying out 80 mobility trips lasting three weeks, addressed to students with special needs from technical and vocational schools in the provinces of Rimini and Forli- Cesena. Following the inconveniences created by the pandemic emergency, a request was made for an extension of one year as well as a reduction of the mobility period in Europe, the duration of which was reduced from three to two weeks. The groups were made up of learners, staff and qualified accompanying persons, in mobility from the four partners in four European countries, who had the task of organising the programme for their weeks, which was to include work activities in local companies as well as linguistic and pedagogical cultural activities. The partners involved in the project were: Your International Training in Ireland (Mallow and Sligo locations), Yanuoliu Dienos Centras in Lithuania in Panevezys, European Center in Training for Employement in Crete, Greece, and Mep Europrojects in Granada, Spain. The main activities foreseen in the mobility were work experience in a European context, a basic course in the language of the host country, and visits to places of cultural interest.
VolontaRomagna has been promoting European mobility projects since 2009 with the target group of young people with intellectual fragility and with a special focus on those coming from disadvantaged family and/or social backgrounds. The participants were both young people attending technical and vocational schools in the area and professionals working in the area of special needs. The project was in continuity with those promoted in past years as a response to the territory from which, in particular the families, associations and schools from which these young people come, ask to have them participate in Erasmus in order to offer them a highly personalised experience tailored to their potential that other similar projects are not yet able to offer. The opportunity to carry out exchanges in a European context also favours the realisation of a strong experience of active European citizenship, as well as allowing them to get to know and put into practice the values of Europe, and to confront European challenges, especially those concerning the younger generations with particular reference to the Green Deal, access to digital technology and social and labour inclusion.
