The Institute set out to consolidate the path started in the previous years through an increasingly deep-rooted dialogue and constructive confrontation between teachers which would guarantee full participation in the European educational dimension to all (teachers and pupils). In particular, we set out to achieve the following objectives: - acquisition of language skills that would allow an increasing number of teachers to interact flexibly in a wide range of oral and written, formal and informal communication situations, with pupils and colleagues from other schools; - constant promotion of activities that enhance the language skills acquired, such as etwinning projects and exchange of good practices with foreign colleagues; - activation of teaching experiences of non-linguistic disciplines through the use of a foreign language, favouring the acquisition of specific terminology and thus enhancing the mastery of a linguistic register of specialties; - consolidation of teaching methodologies to favour the more active participation of the student in the learning process, stimulating personal motivation through the use of new communication technologies and active comparison with other realities in order to combat early school leaving; - stabilization of good teaching practices so that they were generalized practice for the entire institution; - creation of a learning environment in which multiculturalism represented an added value and not an obstacle; - creation of awareness of the present and future European dimension among all school staff and students, promoting the acquisition of key competences of European citizenship. During the implementation of the project, due to the outbreak of the pandemic due to Covid 19 and its effects on the school world (teachers and students), the need to promote new motivation for a return to normality was also highlighted and therefore it was decided to insert a new fundamental objective in this sense: - help students and teachers to manage stress problems in everyday work. Implementation: What activities did you implement? During the Project, the following activities were carried out: - 4 job shadowing experiences aimed at acquiring good practices through active comparison with the teaching practices of German colleagues; - 33 training courses relating to the following areas of professional development: o Teaching and classroom management methods o Language courses o CLIL o Management of stress and the risk of burnout through mindfulness and meditation activities
From the initial analysis of the institute's needs, it emerged that in the overall preparation of teachers there was a lack of linguistic, IT and methodological skills that did not allow the school to always respond adequately to user requests. Furthermore, Piacenza is one of the Italian provinces with the highest number of students of foreign origin and in our institute there has been a significant increase in this sense. This situation has generated the desire for methodological skills in multiethnic and multicultural classroom management. Furthermore, an analysis of the results of the pupils in the national tests such as the Invalsi tests had given little positive results in the logical-mathematical area and it was highlighted that mathematics and foreign languages were a cause for concern and difficulty on the part of the pupils. Therefore, some needs emerged within the Institute which we tried to respond to through the activities promoted by the project: - improve the language skills of as many teachers as possible of non-linguistic subjects - improve the teaching methodologies used to facilitate the acquisition of the skills required by the new European scenarios - train mathematics and foreign language teachers both through specific methodological courses and through comparison with other European colleagues; - adapt the management and teaching approach to the multiethnic and multicultural dimension of the class; - reduce the rate of early school leaving through encouraging and practical teaching The Institute set out to consolidate the path started in the previous years through an increasingly deep-rooted dialogue and constructive confrontation between teachers which would guarantee full participation in the European educational dimension to all (teachers and pupils).
