Our first objective is the promotion of multilingualism, especially through the implementation of CLIL methodology. By joining the project, we intended to further qualify the teaching staff, through the attendance of language and teaching methodology courses. A second objective is to give our school a European and international cultural and educational orientation. Our students, who are aware of the historical and cultural peculiarities that characterise our territory, need the necessary linguistic and intercultural skills to be part of an active European citizenship and to access the world of work. jobshadowing enables the cultivation of opportunities for exchange and interaction. In jobshadowings and in attending training and refresher courses open to teachers from all over Europe, we saw the possibility of pursuing a third objective: the expansion of our teaching methodology. By participating in the project, we saw the possibility of accessing European courses with innovative content and an international slant. Finally, we saw the possibility of project participants acting as multipliers within the school.
Our school has four rather distant courses which lead to the Italian final exams: Tourism, Euregio, Biotechnology, Food and Sport. We see in this plurality and diversity an added value. Our teaching is future-oriented and anchored in the territory, multicultural and multilingual. The school curriculum includes cooperation with universities, institutions and local companies. The school cultivates close and fruitful collaborations with other high schools in Europe and beyond. (e.g. YPAC – the Youth Parliament and 'Schools Beyond Regions and Borders'). Since 2008, our school has been promoting CLIL teaching methodology. Participation in this project seemed a logical consequence of the choices made so far, consistent with our didactic and methodological intentions. The project represented a further opportunity for growth and professionalisation by facilitating the acquisition of linguistic, teaching, social and personal skills necessary to accompany our students towards new scholastic and professional challenges.
