Objectives

In accordance with the ET 2020 strategic framework and the UN Agenda 2030, the overall goal was to make lifelong learning and the mobility of teachers and pupils a reality for our school community, in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning offer. The training activities provided for by the project aimed to achieve the following specific objectives: 1. to acquire management and organizational skills;to increase the flexibility of our curriculum to enable our pupils to acquire the skills useful to continue their postgraduate studies and reduce the rate of failures; 2. to improve the teaching of the subjects in the most deficit areas (mathematics, physics, foreign language) with the use of digital tools, with a view to greater inclusiveness of the teaching action; 3. to acquire the CLIL approach related skills and improve our staff’s communicative competence in the English language, in order to to ensure the gradual extension to all courses of the teaching of non-linguistic subject in a foreign language; 4. to improve teamwork attitude and interpersonal skills; 5. to develop intercultural skills and motivation to undertake further transnational cooperation projects.

Background

We analysed our staff training needs, in relation to the innovation processes undertaken by our school. Since the school year 2019/20, the experimentation of a four-year course (Liceo Quadriennale), provided for by MIUR Notice 18/10/2017-820, has been launched, offering our students a course in line with other European secondary education systems. In order to expand the Educational Offer Plan, the following optional courses were also introduced: the scientific-linguistic option with 2 foreign languages, and the biomedical option, in collaboration with the Department of Medicine and Surgery of Foggia Hospital. Hence the need for a European Development Plan, which was drawn up taking into account the following factors: the criticalities emerged from the RAV (School Self-Assessment Report) with reference to our curricula planning and the introduction of technological innovations in teaching; the results of the Invalsi tests for 2017/18 school year; educational debts in mathematics, physics, English language; Eduscopio data, relating to the dropout rate from university courses by our graduates; the increase in the number of pupils with special needs; the socio-economic context of our region, which needs intercultural strategies .
