In fact, for some years the city of Trieste has witnessed a potential development of the free port (unique in Europe), which through the implementation of infrastructures is starting brand new collaborations worldwide. Furthermore, the strong scientific vocation has been present for several years in the Trieste area supported by the presence of very important realities such as I.C.T. (Higher School of Advanced Studies in Theoretical Physics), Elettra Sincrotrone (Center of world excellence for basic and applied research, for technology and knowledge transfer, for high technical, scientific and management training, for creation and coordination of national and international scientific networks), the presence of which has contributed to ensuring that the city of Trieste has hosted the ESOF event since 2020, the most relevant at European level focused on the debate between science, technology, society and politics.
The project was born with a view to continuing the Institute's internationalization process already begun with the previous Erasmus + KA1 and KA 2 projects. innovative teaching methods for the development of transversal skills and guidance also in foreign European contexts. This was possible through moments of job shadowing and on-site courses in some European countries, such as Spain, France, and Malta. The teachers involved were thus able to compare their previous experiences in the field of skills detection with new approaches that can bring knowledge and skills in the field of problem solving, peer tutoring and learning by doing, the exchange of good practices as well as in the key competences of citizenship. This experience has given our organization a perspective of greater cohesion and team spirit aimed at working in teams at an organizational and design level. The institute feels ready to face this new challenge given the positive experience given by the implementation of the Erasmus Plus KA1 staff mobility project carried out in the years 2018 and 2019 and aimed at the internationalization of the staff. The experience involved curricular and support teachers, administrative and technical staff, as well as the Headmaster and the Director of General Administrative Services. In fact, this project, together with the numerous approved PON projects and various eTwinning projects, has resulted in a significant increase in the number of members. The educational offer has gained in value and the repercussions on learning have led to a greater number of educational successes in the student population. In view of the new State Exam in Italy and the related certification of skills, which must necessarily accompany the Diploma and thus becoming an integral part of the student's curriculum, teachers need specific training in the methodologies for the development of these skills.
