Objectives

The project has significantly contributed to the long-term improvement process of the Institute aimed at creating a school intended as a place of well-being, lifelong learning, and inclusion that promotes and supports active and aware European citizens. In the macro dimension, the project has fostered awareness and reflection on the importance, in school organization, of activating the emotional channel in the process of learning, in the relationship with oneself and with others. Due to the pandemic situation and the consequent difficulties that the whole society has found itself facing, the school has paid particular attention to the emotional well-being of the pupils. In the micro dimension of the participants, the project implemented the professional, linguistic, methodological, personal and relational skills allowing to: - Innovate teaching by activating the emotional intelligence channel and promoting motivation, self-awareness, self-assessment; - design and implement activities that foster emotional bonding and involvement of colleagues, parents and the wider community; - activate exchanges of good practices and new partnerships with European schools.

Background

The Institute, based in Ascoli Piceno, comprises eight school buildings The Institute's self-assessment revealed an increase in manifestations of relationship problems and emotional distress among pupils, teachers and parents, resulting from an increase in situations of socio-economic difficulties and the earthquakes that hit the area. The main critical issues that were revealed ex ante are: - relationship difficulties (social isolation, bullying, acts of arrogance, etc.) - study demotivation (decreased enrolment in the secondary school music course, performance anxiety, etc.) - problems in school-family relationships (limited participation in school initiatives, inadequate consideration of the school's educational role, etc.) - burn-out risk of school staff (teaching and non-teaching) - difficulties in sharing good practices between school colleagues and between the 8 school buildings, - decreasing interest and motivation (including in teacher training) and school results (INVALSI) During the project period, these critical issues became even more evident due to the pandemic with its known repercussions on the personal emotional sphere and in relationships with others.
