The request for structured courses was aimed at: - improving the communication skills in English, related to oral interaction and "fluency", of the staff involved in the training and, consequently, stimulating in the other teachers the desire to get involved in similar activities in the future, as well as being able to take advantage of what has been acquired by the colleagues in training; - transferring the skills acquired during the training into daily teaching with their students; - using the methodologies acquired during the training, as well as authentic material suggested, in a stimulating and creative way with their students; - an active participation of the staff in the various activities proposed by the Erasmus+ KA2 CRIOD project which took place in the same period of this KA1 and in other future Erasmus+ projects; and, consequently, maintaining communications with foreign colleagues; - managing collaborative projects with European schools; - improving the language skills of their pupils, also using CLIL methodology, and contributing to increase their sense of belonging to Europe.
In our school, over the years, we have launched several eTwinning and Erasmus+ KA2 projects, all conducted in English, which have strongly motivated and continue to motivate our school staff and pupils; the collaboration has always been considerable and active, but the inadequate knowledge of the English language has, unfortunately, always represented an obstacle and a slowdown in the performance of the required activities, and the English language teacher has been often used for the correspondence with partner schools, for the videoconferences or for the presentation of activities related to these projects. We therefore considered it necessary to apply for an adequate number of mobilities and allow teachers and school staff to participate in training courses in English in order to acquire and / or improve not only their language proficiency, but also to increase personal motivation and improve interpersonal relationships with foreign colleagues.
