Objectives

Through the training courses and the Job Shadowing activities, we tried to achieve the following results: • learning and using new methodologies; • developing digital competence for teaching to improve students’ motivation and participation in class; • using multimedia tools to support research and study; • improving the use of the foreign language to manage new European projects and to make the best use of the CLIL methodology; • encouraging staff to take language certification exams; • learning about different school realities, their organizational structure and resource management; • comparing teaching methods and different teaching strategies • improving teaching and experimenting with innovations in class; • strengthening the European and intercultural dimension; • transforming our School into a "Training and Innovation Centre" by creating opportunities for personal growth for both teachers and administrative staff; • creating training spaces and opportunities for students, teachers and school staff to start continuing education and training

Background

We decided to apply for this project following the requests of the Class Councils, the Departments and the administrative staff. Teachers of foreign languages and those of non-linguistic subjects who teach using CLIL methodology expressed the need for a strengthening of their linguistic and methodological skills to offer students new stimuli and to enhance their motivation. Having poor language skills, the administrative staff shared this request. Moreover, they also pointed out the importance of a greater internationalization of the Institute in order to learn how to manage European projects and to compare different organizational and management systems to draw new ideas from. In summary, this project seemed to us a golden opportunity to: • learn and use new methodologies • develop digital skills to be applied in teaching • improve the use of the foreign language also for CLIL-methodology • learn about different school realities, their organizational structure and resource management • compare teaching methods and different teaching strategies • improve teaching and experiment with innovations in classes
