The catchment area of the IIS Giuseppe Colasanti includes several neighboring municipalities close to Civita Castellana, rather differentiated on the basis of the cultural and socio-economic level, but united in recent years by a more marked orientation towards the tourism promotion sector. In the Tuscia area, the latter offers new work environments to young people. Despite this, the socio-economic background of the students appears to be conditioned by the geographical and cultural structure of the territory, which has suffered the effects of the national crisis. Its incidence appears to be greater in the families of students of professional institutes, while in the high schools there is greater stability. The IIS Colasanti has set itself as a promoter of this proposal starting from the assumption that it is essential to improve teaching to overcome this gap, through the use of innovative methods for the development of basic skills and to open schools towards a European horizon, in order to guide young people towards greater openness to the world of work. The IIS Colasanti has chosen to apply for the second time to a European call, having accumulated experience in planning for the request for funds for schools.
