Objectives

In recent years, each school has implemented actions to improve the professional skills of the teaching staff, thanks to a continuous and systematic training activity and also through the support of action-research paths, classroom experimentation, documentation and dissemination of good teaching practices at collegiate level. However, following the sharing and debate between school managers and teachers, it was felt that, through the implementation of the Impact project, action should be taken on certain strategic axes for which all Consortium schools were still lacking: – teacher training on methodological-didactic innovation, in particular the methods of active and laboratory teaching and inclusive teaching; - the strengthening of language skills, with particular reference to the English language, also through the use of the Content Language Integrated Learning methodology, which is difficult to keep up with due to the unavailability of experienced teachers; - the development of teaching skills in the field of active and democratic citizenship through the promotion of intercultural education in order to promote social and cultural inclusion and to combat all forms of discrimination; - the promotion of inclusive education to prevent and fight early school leaving; - the improvement of school management skills with a view to internationalization.

During the application phase, there was an extensive consultation between the Consortium school Principles and the teaching staff. This process , which included context analysis, needs assessment related to teachers’ professional development, led to the definition of a common strategy for the strengthening of management and teaching skills of the schools involved. We believe that such strategy has shown to have affected all the schools of the Consortium and which, giving an important stimulus to the overall improvement of the educational offer in the province of Chieti.
