The objectives to be achieved during Udsace project were: - Developing new skills in MVNGO’s regular staff of Trainers allowing the standard implementation of customized training for low-skilled Adults empowering the latter with digital literacy and competence in the use of communication/dissemination opportunities provided by Social Media and digital instruments as a means of informed and impactful participation in society. - Development of MVNGO’s staff Trainers capacities in training low-skilled Adults in carrying out community-building programs based on the methodologies of citizens’ journalism to raise awareness about and shed light on possible solutions to issues and challenges affecting their communities. - Set the stage for the constant update and improvement of offer and for the extraction of further local impact through European cooperation and projects.
The proposal targeted MVNGO’s need to expand its educational offer in the Adult field to the empowerment of a specific sub-category of the Adult population (low-skilled Adults) substantially represented in the geographic area (North Sardinia) and in the urban reality (Historic Center of Sassari) wherein MVNGO has the most direct outreach in its regular activities. The thematic focus, inspired by the social and urban challenges the organization has observed as the most impacting on the wellbeing of the area and of the Adult categories established therein, was placed on the empowerment of low-skilled Adults’ citizenship and participation in the digital arena and in community-building efforts based on a citizens’ journalism approach. In terms of overall rationale, we wanted to empower concrete exercises of the rights of citizenship and participation in disadvantaged Adult categories by means of awareness and impacting the use of Social Media and digital communication instruments and, in a complementary fashion, empower and orient participation of disadvantaged (low-skilled) Adults towards concrete community building activities employing citizens’ journalism as a tool to gather insights and brainstorm solution over the challenges that most affect them as citizens of their own communities.
