Objectives

The Voice project aimed to increase awareness of rights access among the most fragile groups and consequently increase their chances for social inclusion. To achieve this goal, we responded to the training deficiencies of educators, improving their skills and knowledge with regard to the promotion and protection of the rights of vulnerable people both on social/web and in the social world (increased individual empowerment)

Background

The project takes its origin from the need, identified among social workers, to have scarce skills aimed at increasing self-awareness and the ability to self-determine, in individuals who normally lack visibility and social voice. There was evidence of a lack of training experiences aimed at empowering the individual's autonomy, the recognition of one's identity, the ability to activate processes of change and existential planning, the appreciation of confrontation with others and diversity, solidarity and cooperation. The training need identified was to support the empowerment of disadvantaged people through active citizenship experiences. But it is also regarding the topic of digital citizenship rights and the risks related to the world of the web (Cyberbullying, sexting, fake news) that training deficiencies had been highlighted. Digital exclusion and the inability to have adequate tools to read social, are factors that affect the concrete possibilities of empowerment both individually and collectively and that often in the most fragile categories add up and amplify the extent of other social inequalities. These were the issues and needs that the "Voice" project responded to.
