The idea of our project arises from the global ecological problems that the world is facing nowadays: melting glaciers, smog, environmental pollution, endangered species and all this is due to intense climate change, caused by the use of fossil fuels and other human activities. The main aim of our project is to increase the motivation of pupils and members of the community to engage in environmental issues and to attract as many people as possible as everyone has the right to act responsibly, reducing one’s consumerism, as a result, combating climate change. The project will be carried out in two years between schools from Bitetto ( Italy ), Prienai (Lithuania), Nimes (France), Ioannina ( Greece ), Villena ( Spain ), these schools are situated in different geographical positions with different experience in the field of energy, this will ensure the efficiency of the project. The objective of the project is to familiarise with each country's energy production and resources, to contribute to energy saving and targeted consumption, including the ways and means of alternative energy extraction, in an effort to reduce CO2 emissions into the environment and climate change. This project will involve 15- to 17-year-old pupils, English language teachers, science, maths and IT teachers, parents, and local municipalities as well as government representatives.Through this project 88 students and 50 teachers will have the possibility to go on mobility to the partners' countries. We intend to work in the following areas: 1 " Pollution Research", 2 "Greenhouse gas reduction techniques" 3 "Alternative Energy Sources" . During the implementation of the project activities, we will analyse how energy is produced, what its resources are, where and how much they are consumed, finding out problems related to energy use by meeting with specialists from the Ministry of Environment. We will also organise energy saving campaigns, conferences will be held, we will particularly be interested in waste sorting and recycling, younger students will be trained, too. On the whole, we will strive to create a new energy system that will help reduce household energy costs, a community action plan focused on energy saving will be introduced, eco-friendly home models based on green technologies will be designed, ensuring cooperation between countries to strengthen research, technological development and innovation. The work methodology will be communicative in order to create the necessary sinergies among the partners to implement the project in all its parts. It will be based on the central role of the students, we will try to involve the learners in the development of activities and they will have an active and important role in the presentations of results( video, articles, reports, workshops, questionnaires), student inclusion is essential for the success of the program. Most of the research activities, which will be carried out, will be based on laboratory approach enabling in this way success for all learners readucing in this way early abandonment of school This project is important in many aspects since it has a great impact on students, teachers and the community: 1. The Community will acquire new knowledge of the European energy system, the use of alternative energy sources in the EU, their prospects, the potential for energy savings in everyday life, ways of reducing environmental pollution in order to reduce climate change. 2. Students and teachers will become familiar with the social diversity, languages, culture, traditions and education systems of other countries, and will be able to take proper account of it. 3. Pupils will deepen the knowledge and skills of IT, English and science maths, and ensure more active participation in society. 4. Created products: films, announcements, articles, researches will be delivered to school, national communities, used in biology, English lessons, various activities based on the project results will be carried out in the International Baltic Sea project that addresses environmental issues. 5. Strong cooperation between school partners will be established and a better understanding of the project and EU values will be ensured. The new friendships among pupils and understanding of other cultures will clear away the bias towards foreigners.
Our project started from the idea that nowadays the very beginning of all concerns is environment since the earth is showing clear signs of worldwide climate change. Deforestation, industrialization, and pollution have greatly increased the concentration of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide causing global warming as a result. Environmental issues are more and more prevalent nowadays and thanks to this project students have acquired a better understanding of them. It was a two years project involving partners from Italy, Lithuania, France, Spain and Greece so that the diversity of cultures and societies have enriched and given added value to the results envisaged. It started in September 2019 but it ended in August 2022 because it was prolonged one more year for the Covid 19 pandemic. This project responded to the needs of connection with other ways of facing one of the biggest world's problems encouraging students to find solutions. The objectives we wanted to achieve were clearly linked to the priorities selected and we arranged different activities to achieve them: - to Increase students' awareness about environmental global problems. We accomplished this both goal through local activities such as: pollution researches, surveys, lab tasks and analysis of the solutions offered by governmental and non-governmental organizations, conferences, workshops, visits to sustainable power plants and self-sufficient companies and solutions found by participant pupils and through student exchanges to share results and debate about new power sources to create sustainable programs which have been implemented in each school and community. - to Increase key skills and competences, especially those related to oral and written expression and reading comprehension in the mother tongue and foreign language and the use of ICT. The activities implemented to accomplish this objective have been local ones, the use of technology was an essential tool for the implementation of the project during the pandemic, but it has always been an important tool for researches in fact internet supplied an extensive collection of information, sources and materials for the project implementation. - Open education in the digital era meant promoting new methodologies to face the educational challenges of the XXI century in an increasingly connected society. Digitalization in teaching methodologies was important in local activities, in fact teachers were motivated in using technology in every phase of the project for example they used different social media to communicate, they made different online meetings and both students and teachers took part in an international conference organized by the Lithuanian school. The enrichment of teachers' methodology was increased during exchanges because they gained professional experience through the comparison with different European school curricula. From the methodological point of view, the project has been eminently collaborative, its implementation has always counted on the active role of all participants and their school communities. The outcomes have been published on e-twinning, in the twinspace, on the project facebook page, on the project website achieving in this way maximum dissemination. Throughout the project, students have been the protagonists of their own learning which was focused on maximum student involvement. Students' inclusion has been essential for the success of the project. Each group made presentations, videos, documentaries, interviews. and a common website was created where all the products have been published. Regarding the impact, it was intended to be as long-term as possible since we conceived it as the basis for the innovative educational practice of the participating teachers, infact it had a great impact on teachers' teaching skills, in fact they gained a greater technical knowledge on interdisciplinary contents, they enriched lessons with appealing true -to-life situation, they improved organizational skills i.e. arranging meetings and seminars for larger groups organizing workshops, and educational visits, moreover, since it was based on the use of alternative power sources in everyday life it will become part of students' personal enrichment and an opportunity for their lifelong educational growthThe project has also been able to generate awareness on the topic in the communities of each school. It has been a project that has included students, teachers, families, public entities and local authorities such as municipalities and their areas of Culture and Education so the deposit that it has left will reach many people and will remain in time. A project which included five partner countries, carried out over 3 years, that revolved around environmental problems, the use of ICT, development of new teaching methodology has had an impact hard to forget in its participants and their immediate surroundings.
