“Mind the Green” is an Erasmus+ Ka1 training course for youth workers active in their organisations, that will take place from October the 2nd to October the 10th (8 activity days+ 1 travel day) 2019 in Giovinazzo, Puglia, in Southern Italy. It will gather 27 participants from 9 EU countries: Italy, Greece, France, Spain, Portugal, Estonia, Poland, Latvia and Czech Republic. Working language will be English. The project rises from the deeply felt desire to give, as youth workers, our contribution to improve the society in which we live: if the education system barely furnish students with contents and values to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and an attentive attitude towards it, maybe it’s time for youth workers to start spreading those attitudes in their local communities. The training course is indeed devised for equipping youth workers with fresh and innovative set of tools to develop new approaches towards the sustainable instances, to be shared with their organisations and local communities. We will furnish participants a great support to improve sustainable behaviours in social life, involving in the learning process non-formal methodologies and fostering the sharing of skills and know-how between the participants. Participants will also meet non-profits organizations, start-ups and decision makers involved in the field of social and environmental sustainability, in order to enhance a better development and will then share with them and also with local schools, the results of the project, which will consist of an awareness-raising video and an action plan pamphlet. During the project we will discuss various aspects of anthropic impact on environment in order to find an easy and shareable way to reduce it. The main objective will be going deeper in EU citizenship with a focus on environment and providing participants ideas and methods for changing their attitudes and those of their communities, towards environment: youth workers will get competences and practical experience to promote environmental education and act effectively as multipliers of newly acquired competences. We'll also encourage the participants to create a network for sharing ideas and creating new Erasmus+ projects: youth workers will so increase their participation in public life and into society by promoting non-formal education and building the capacity and quality work in their organisations. The specific objectives of the project will be: -to increase participants' awareness and foster collective reflection about the ecological issue in Europe; -to strengthen young people’s sense of initiative, notably in the active citizenship field; -to understand the role of young people in their local realities in the context of civic engagement and responsible citizenship; -to foster the inclusion and the employability of marginalized young people with fewer opportunities, and empower them with non-formal education contents; -to exchange best practices about diverse ecological action strategies that can be transferred to participants' context; -to acquire practical skills in upcycling, self-construction and DIY; -to become more familiar with tools and approaches for turning to a healthier and more respectful lifestyle towards our environment and ourselves; -to learn how to assess competencies with young people; -to influence policy makers, public administrations, interest groups, civil society organisations and individual citizens to act responsibly toward environment; -to disseminate examples of good practice in environmental communication and to exchange good practices by creating interaction between participants and institutions. What we mostly expect to achieve with this project, is to engage, connect and empower youth workers, in order let them act as multipliers of the newly acquired competences that will be so shared in their local communities.
