Objectives

The Youth Exchange "Young rowers facing sailboats 2.0" is dedicated to participants interested in new media, social media, blogs, active citizenship to address a common issue between the two shores of the Mediterranean: Illegal immigration that has unfortunately become a dream of happiness for young Moroccans, Tunisians and Africans in general and a nightmare for some Europeans. More and more migrants want to reach Europe via Lampedusa, Sicily and the Strait of Gibraltar. To the point that Spain, could this year exceed Greece in number of arrivals by the sea. The migratory flow also increases at the two land borders of the European Union which are in Morocco. Young Africans Rush Into Hundreds to Climb the Barbary Fences of Ceuta and Melilla, Two Spanish Enclaves, on the North Coast of Morocco According to an assessment of 6 August 2017 of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 8183 migrants have landed in Spain since the beginning of the year. It is more than triple the same period of 2016 - some 2500 - and more than the total of arrivals over the last year, told “Agence France-Presse” Joel Millman, spokesman for the IOM. These figures remain far from those of Italy with more than 96,400 migrants who have landed since the beginning of the year by the sea, but Spain is on track to catch up with Greece where 11,713 people have arrived by sea on the same period. Africans landed in southern Italy are primarily "economic" migrants. They are doomed to expulsion in the long term, unlike the beneficiaries of the right to asylum as Syrian war refugees. As do the ports of Sicily and Calabria today. Especially since the numbers are exploding: Italy has already welcomed more than 80,000 last year 2017, a third more than in the first half of 2016. After the first youth exchange “Young rowers facing sailboats” that we have been done in Marrakech in 2018, and where the participants them self’s decided to keep go in on with a second youth exchange, called “Young rowers facing sailboats 2.0” that will bring together 48 participants(05 participants + 01 group leader) from the same 08 countries (Italy, Spain, France , Greece, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco), and will take place this time in the other side of the Mediterranean, in AGREGENTO, Sicily , addressing the same topic of Illegal immigration, but this time through non-formal education and Media literacy . This youth exchange is designed by the participants of the first one, interested in human rights and in particular illegal immigration, through Media, social media, blogs, active citizenship and non-formal education. Offering them the opportunities to keep continue exchanging ideas and points of view, to work together, and to express themselves through different methods. During 07 days, participants will face different challenges, meet other new people with different backgrounds while sharing, first their first experience in Marrakech and sharing skills and developing new specific ones. At the end of this learning process, these newly acquired skills will be a basic building block for creating an awareness companion that they will disseminate in their representative communities. In this project, self-reflection and non-formal education, media literacy, are key elements. Using non-formal education tools, participants will address the topic of Illegal immigration and human rights, such as fight against prejudices, stereotypes, racism and xenophobia, and recognizing human and cultural diversity. The idea of the project was developed during an Erasmus + mobility in Marrakech and during which the participants contributed to develop a partnership answering their needs, to know more, and to develop other skills. All partner we are persuade that this project will value the work of all those who engage in human projects and activities to work with immigrants, combat racism, xenophobia and discrimination and try to build a society based on multicultural and cultural integration, freedom, equality and fraternity. Our exchange project perfectly meets the objectives of the Erasmus + program. Because it’s main objective is to raise awareness of the different realities that surround us, in particular the importance of non-formal learning in improving respect for human rights. For our project we can summarize the following objectives: - To bring the public opinion to question the realities lived by the migrants and the refugees in order to change and have a new approach on this topic. - create space for discussion, development of a reflection on issues of secrecy, Strengthen operational engagement and collaboration of civil society actors on the management of illegal immigration. - Build capacity, highlight media skills and motivate participants and improve the quality of their intervention in society. -Create a “Media awareness companion” on illegal immigration issues, and to improve the quality of youth work on the local and Euro-Mediterranean level.
