In Sicily, compared to the national average, there is a strong increase in cases of intoxication and even deaths caused by the increasingly higher use of minors of new drugs processed with substances sometimes unknown and experimental, as well as by improper assumption of drugs often "self-prescribed" by people who document themselves on the web without resorting to the advice of professionals; or, again, from amateur doping that uses clandestinely manufactured products or "fake supplements" often bought on the web to improve sports performance. There have been over 2,500 officially registered cases of intoxication for the use of any type of drugs in the last five years, with a prevalence of subjects between 15 and 40 years. In the various schools of Palermo, 89% of the boys drank alcohol for the first time at the age of 12, 75% get drunk at least once a week, in 85% they consider it essential - for better fun in the company of friends - resort to alcohol and drugs. 30-40% of respondents - depending on the area - take drugs and, on average, 60% of them do so on an ongoing basis. Cannabis is the preferred "boiling" substance in 90% of cases. (Prof. Fabio Venturella, Univ. Palermo 2018) These figures on the Sicilian situation, show us a growing use of drugs and supplements purchased on the web, such as fentanyl, a substance that gives a powerful morphine-like effect; but also of the 'Purple drank', that is codeine syrup added to the most fashionable drinks to get to the 'buzz' during the evenings with friends; and the infamous 'Spice', a mixture of cannabinoids of synthetic origin that have nothing to do with natural cannabinoids. In short, the ease of buying these types of drugs is worrisome and more worrying is the fact that many young people do not know that the misuse of such substances can cause permanent damage to the nervous system in the medium to long term. to other vital organs. In Greece, the use of cannabis on medical grounds has been legalized since July 2017, allowing legal consumption to thousands of citizens. The government has expressed itself less prohibitionist and pushes the removal of cannabis from the table of heavy drugs. But the spread of methamphetamine-based drugs is still worrying and even based on the acid of car batteries, considered highly dangerous. The Greek government for the crisis that it still faces does not finance health or social assistance programs, and the problem translates into a new social emergency. So, with this project, we want to use artistic representation as a form of expression and transmission of positive messages of prevention against the use of drugs and in this way understand and make others understand that they must protect their health seriously and aware. We want to pay more attention to this issue by involving children in an exchange that makes them key players in prevention starting with themselves and then arriving at other young people. The artistic representation of a traditional Sicilian dance will also benefit the public, seeing that the work of young people will learn something more about the consumption of drugs and will be able to participate in the search for solutions. Our goals are: -Create a space for discussion and debate on the issue of drugs, sharing ideas, experience and hypothesizing possible solutions. - Creation of an artistic representation giving a prevention message about the use of controlled substances (drugs). - Supporting and promoting social inclusion in young people and local traditions; - Encouraging social commitment by promoting the culture of solidarity and inclusion; - Promotion of intercultural dialogue; encourage teamwork; -To provide young people with non-formal training aimed at creating awareness about the social inclusion and consumption of drugs.
