The A.E.NE.A.S. youth exchange will last 5 days and take place in Palermo (Italy) in October 2019. A diverse group of 36 young people (from different ages) coming from 9 countries (Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Romania, Portugal, Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria and Norway) and 9 group leaders will participate. In Europe inclusion, radicalisation and migration are buzz words and the main theme of the project is tackling social, economical, educational and geographical exclusion thanks to performing arts and its universal power of putting people together in order to contrast radicalisation and xenophobia. Moreover, the project will address the theme of European awareness through the meeting of participants from very different countries. In these days, inclusion and solidarity are very important. In 2019 migrants are still dying in the Mediterranean sea trying to reach Sicily and tolerance and mutual understanding should be now stronger and, like Aeneas' myth represent, it is legitimate to look for a new home in search for peace escaping from war. This is the background of this youth exchange and the actual social and historical context guided us in shaping this youth exchange. A.E.NE.A.S. objectives are: - to develop participants' awareness on discrimination and exclusion through non-formal learning methods namely theatre, music, dance and creative/non-formal activities, so to tackle radicalisation; - to help participants think about a more inclusive Europe and to take proactive action at local level, developing their understanding and experience of European citizenship; - to foster participants' sense of identity as individuals and European citizens through intercultural learning processes; - to celebrate the creativity of young people through the staging of Aeneid classic drama, and disseminate the results to other young people and the local community.
