HeritAge deals with rural regeneration. Rural areas in fact play a crucial role around Europe both in the present time and in the future. In 2017 the international European research project "Shrinking rural region in Europe"(ESPON, 2017), demonstrated how some of these areas are living a disruptive process of abandoning (local culture, land, education, economics, migration ...), as well as experiencing ageing and depopulation processes. Moreover, Youth is one of the categories which is most exposed to experience rural exodus (Pasca, Rouby, 2012). Citizens and especially youth, in rural areas often live a lack of opportunities, both for training and cultural inputs. These factors are fundamental to support rural youth to take responsibility for their role as active citizens in the preservation and valuing of ecological and cultural heritage, as well as promoting and developing critical thinking and sense of initiative. The project is based on natural local resources used in traditional local constructions. Natural materials will be an interactive tool to deal with biodiversity, cultural heritage, intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, environmental education and last but not least, self-entrepreneurship. The aim is to provide skills and knowledge on natural materials and the mobility reveals several objectives. It is a great opportunity to share international experience and to provide knowledge, both theoretical and practical, about natural materials and constructions. It creates space for intercultural and intergenerational exchange, directly experiencing and being part of the process of renovation of a traditional rural refuge. Participants will be directly in contact and living in a rural organization supporting and creating new trajectories in green jobs. Moreover, the mobility will be framed by high-quality local food related to “Dieta Mediterranea” (Mediterranean Diet) as a European value to share and live for a healthier society. The local community of Polizzi Generosa will benefit from an international exchange of youth exploring and learning from local knowledge. Furthermore, a local school will be involved in the project. This aim to open a space of dialogue and exchange between local education institution and international nonformal education exchange.
