Objectives

In this times of social unrest, young people's dissatisfaction with politics and different protest movements emerging all over the world, the participation of young people in democratic life becomes more and more important. Today's young people are the leaders of tomorrow and giving them the opportunity to discuss and deepen the concept of democracy is the best way to promote peace, human rights, stability, security and sustainable development. Young people consider their life style a fact, but in reality they are made possible only by being able to live in democratic countries and within the EU. For this reason, it becomes more and more important to know the history, values and foundations of democracy. This project aims to provide young people with the tools to read and face reality, starting from an experience of peer comparison. This project aims to: -Promoting democracy, its history and values; -Opening a debate among young people by stimulating critical thinking and providing correct and complete information on some pillars of democracy (rule of law, division of powers, civil liberties, human rights); -Promoting the active participation of young people in democratic life; -Improving the comparison between young people from EU countries and young people from third countries on the subject of democracy; -Encouraging cohesion between third countries and EU countries; -Promoting education to democratic values even among non-EU countries; -Promoting the integration of young people in participatory structures (associations, foundations, public bodies); -Perform activities that encourage all forms of dialogue between public authorities and young people; -Identifying the obstacles that prevent certain groups of young people from participating in the democratic life; -Giving an opportunity to the most socially vulnerable young people to participate in an exchange experience with young people from other countries; -Raising young people's respect for diversity by teaching them to live together in a multicultural environment; -Being the basis for future projects and collaborations that have an impact on the individual communities to which they belong. All the participating associations have among their social objectives the development of actions, such as those proposed in this project, which aim to increase the active participation of young people in the life of their local, national and international community, supporting their participation in the mechanisms of representative democracy. Finally, we can state that our project fully pursues the objectives set by the Erasmus+ program in the field of youth as it promotes democracy, the participation of young people in democratic life, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, critical thinking, the values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights. Our exchange project will also strengthen the non-formal learning system and create lasting relationships between participants and between organizations to help improve society by making it more fair and equitable.
