Objectives

The sudden development of society in recent decades has substantially changed people's habits and lives. The change has mainly concerned: technological innovation, globalization and climate change resulting in greater attention to the sustainability and conservation of the planet. Technology and human activities have reached the potential to change the environment, at the same time technology has the ability to solve many of the problems caused to the ecosystem. Technology has radically changed the way we communicate by creating n ew relationships and a different approach to information. Even in this case, it can create problems if used improperly, or it can be a powerful means of growth, if used correctly, for example to acquire new knowledge, as a means of inclusion or to unite a continent. "Technology For Social Development" was born from the idea of 5 young university students working as "tutors" in creative technology laboratories aimed at children, young people and local youths, at the Fab-Lab center of the Amici del Villaggio association. The young tutors together with the leaders of the association, propose, at this stage, to investigate the themes of new technologies to give a chance to many youngsters to experiment with the techniques of educational robotics, coding, electronics and basic automation, design and 3D printing , in a free and creative environment that exploits the ingenuity of the participants. Teaching STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics + Art), in a playful, creative way, in non-formal environment, technologies such as genetics, robotics, nanotechnology and ICT (information technology) are taught. logical thinking, creating the premises of change for many young people and giving them the tools to face the challenges of their generation to design a better and cleaner world, for themselves and for the planet.
