We expected that the competencies and experience that our staff would gain through the training would contribute to the future strategic goals of our school. We believed that our teachers’ investment in teaching would directly contribute to the development of students’ emotional health and to the improvement of their personal academic progress. We hoped that interdisciplinary integration and cooperation among teachers would be strengthened. We hoped that the acquired knowledge about the use of the coaching method would help to implement the Training Coaching methodology in our progymnasium. Also the work of our school administration, teachers, support professionals would be more effective and help students to experience personal success, to improve relationships with peers, classmates and parents. Using of this method would ensure closer collaboration of the pedagogical team with the parents of the students and would help them to cope with the challenges by consulting them. We were looking forward that the increase of academic success would grow the recognition of our school and contribute to making our progymnasium one of the most attractive schools in the city.
In today’s world, teachers are required to improve and update their professional knowledge continually. In accordance with the requirements of many Lithuanian education reforms, a teacher must not only be a provider of classical knowledge and a skill maker, but also have to have a positive attitude towards innovation and constantly improve himself. Living, growing and learning in the information society is no longer enough for traditional methods of education. Therefore, teachers' knowledge of innovative methods, 21st century technology management and use in the educational process for the student's personal progress could help to change the situation. Teachers notice that students' motivation is stimulated by new forms, play elements, organising the learning process in different educational spaces, using modern teaching methods. In the future, it is likely that schools will have to accept more and more children with special needs, for whom experiencing learning success is particularly important. Not every school’s teachers are prepared for that. Ragainė progymnasium is not an exception. One of the modern methods to help students succeed in learning and personal development is coaching. Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance. Since Ragaine Progymnasium does not have the position of a psychologist, it was decided to try this method. Using it, the possibilities and ways to achieve the goal or the desired result are determined by the student. By using guiding questions, the coach helps the student to see possible solutions. Nowadays, coaching methods are becoming increasingly important in the school process.
