The aim of the project „The challenge of modern school – EQ“ – to improve teachers' knowledge andskills, get social-emotional competences, which allows communicate, cooperate in more effectiveway with pupils, parents, also increase pupils EQ for their better learning progress. Tasks: To develop teachers understanding of the social-emotional education and learn the concrete methods’ and apply them at school. To increase teachers qualification for social-emotional education. To develop and apply the system for emotional-social education at school.

Background

During the preparation of the project, we wanted to help students to be more social, recognize and name their emotions, express and manage them properly. We identified this as one of the main problems that made it difficult to communicate with peers, teachers. The disturbed communication didn't allow students to feel happy at school, reduced motivation for learning and achievement of personal goals. By looking to the experience of other countries, we realized that the school must help not only to achieve high learning results, but also to help each student to inrease their emotional inteligence. In everyday situations, we observed that students and teachers are often controlled by emotions and sometimes was not able to adequately respond to the emotions of other people. At school we need more understanding and compassion for each other, the courage to talk about emotions. We observed the increasing number of students with behavioral and emotional (anxiety spectrum) disorders, so this strengthened the understanding that the development of emotional intelligence at school would help to create a psychologically resilient environment, to increase the self-esteem and confidence of students, teachers in themselves, increase empathy.
