By implementing the project we expected to create a more modern, devoted and professional environment inside our organisation, to improve the capabilities and professionalism of our educators while working on a European level and, most importantly, we were hoping to acquire competences, knowledge and innovative methods while working with a target group (children with special needs). Since our gymnasium is becoming more modern, it is crucial to adopt experiences from other countries and that can be achieved by educators who are motivated, who take examples from other organizations, analyse and reflect varying pedagogical models and apply them to their school‘s educational plans.
Since the number of children with special needs had been increasing, we saw an immense need to help our teachers and other school employees and provide them with the knowledge on how to educate and integrate children with special needs such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, depression and etc. It is of high importance that our gymnasium provides the highest quality education to all of its students with no exception, create attractive educational programmes having in mind the individual needs and expectations of its students. This project has allowed the gymnasium to acquire the innovative methods used abroad as well as it gave the opportunity for the employees to extend their foreign language skills and use them in real life situations. The mobilities and courses abroad have allowed our teachers, special education staff and other employees to open up broader perspectives not only for future collaborations, but by adopting the experience of working with students with special needs, understanding cultural differences and extending their professional knowledge.
