Our organization works in a field of preventing and combating all form of violence against women since 1996. We deal with increasing violence cases and work with various partners nationally and globally. Since 2012 WIIC operates as Specialized Support Center and provides help to victims of domestic violence in 7 municipalities of Lithuania. Approximately 1700 persons receive help each year and numbers are growing. In 2019 WIIC started to develop services for Women Support Line with special focus on victims of sexual violence. The line started operating in March 2019 based on volunteer activities. Issues of sexual violence are noticed by our staff but but are hidden and one of the reasons is lack of professional support for women and girls in this situations. Our goal was to gain best practices and try to develop strategy of support in Lithuania based on volunteering first.
