Context: Many young people consider living in a rural area a disadvantage. Thus, it is a growing trend in Europe young people are leaving countryside to seek education, a professional career, life and luck in cities. However, often they face discrimination and negative attitude, are considered less educated which results in decreased self-confidence and growing social exclusion of youth from rural areas.` Topic of social exclusion and discrimination of young people living in villages is very sensitive and important for our NGO and youth volunteering here, because KKK is based in small town next to border to Russia. Young people from Kybartai including volunteers of our NGO are facing this kind of attitude and discrimination themselves. Social exclusion can affect all age groups, but it demands additional attention in youth field since it contributes to long-term damage to the living conditions, social and economic participation, emotional life, and health status of young people. Collaboration was made of 4 countries: LT, RO, EE, SK. Goal was to contribute and raise social inclusion, reduce negative existing stereotypes towards people from rural areas and increase self-confidence of 28 participants from 4 countries living in rural areas. Objectives achieved: O1. Attitudes of 28 participants were changed and we found effective tools to reduce stereotypes about youth living in rural areas in 4 communities in LT, RO, EE, SK. O2. Increased self-confidence of participants coming from rural areas from 4 countries and gained necessary skills for smooth integration into different communities. O3. Familiarized 28 participants from 4 countries with alternative options for continuous contribution to their personal and professional development and learning, e.g. online courses, E+ opportunities. As the results of the project participants increased self-confidence and are able to identify and use effective tools/methods to reduce negative attitude and discrimination towards people from rural areas which translates into increased social inclusion, smoother integration into different (bigger) community.
