Objectives

The main objective of the project was to assist the youth to resolve conflicts emerged from individual misunderstanding and controversies while directing them in terms of soft skills such as leadership, communication, persuasive speaking and team work. It is a fact that even in Europe, migration, conflicts between minority and majority groups, struggles arising from discrimination and racism have been one of the main issues. These issues create significant problems which themselves can also trigger other problems to happen and this situation can put wide scars on Europe’s social, economic prestige. Today, anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia & anti-migrant sentiment are again rising across Europe, creating a new form of social & community conflict, not experienced in Europe for over 70 years. Stereotypical thinking & tendency to blame minorities for negative social phenomena such as unemployment, crime or loss of welfare benefits is very common in the communities settled by ethnic minorities, as well as where there are few, creating further social & community-level conflicts. And with the ever-growing conflicts on the borders of Europe (i.e. the Middle East) and its results ensures division & misunderstanding amongst communities. The far eastern part of Europe, more specifically, the Caucasus still experiences the post-war and live war conditioning impacts from different angles including economic disadvantages, misunderstanding between communities. Hostile relationships between Armenia-Azerbaijan, Georgia-Ossetia, Russia’s relationships with these conflicts and its own hostile relationship between Ukraine due to the Crimean issue are the elements that emphasize the importance of increasing the soft power abilities of the youth in these countries. With these 'Live' & community-level conflicts, it is especially important to actively work with young people to develop the skills they need, both as individuals & as peacemakers, who will spread European values (Peace, Democracy, Freedom of Speech) in their own communities, become active citizens & develop effective strategies to address the issues of discrimination & marginalization in their local societies. Main objectives of the project are: -To present EU policy on Conflict Transformation -To increase awareness of young people about conflicts and its results -stimulate peace-building and social integration -to motivate young people to be part of social life and inclusion in society -share and present conflict challenges and experience of each country -stimulate non-formal learning and leadership skills - promote tolerance, solidarity and inter-cultural exchange between countries -give information about Erasmus+ and motivate future cooperation among participant organizations. This project aimed to bring together NGOs from 4 programme and 4 partner countries to discuss local situation of gender inequality in every participant country, learn from each other’s experiences to be more engaged with the solution and increasing awareness of the problem in their communities. So, participants from outside of EU region have learnt more deeply about EU policy and regulations on Conflict Transformation and participants from EU region not only got better knowledge of conflict management, but also have clear mind on how organizations outside of EU region are working to fight the challenges of conflicts.
