Youth (Participation, Youth Work, Youth Policy)ICT - new technologies - digital competences

Objectives

With this project we want to pay more attention to improving the core and basic competencies that are needed in order to work with young people. The competencies (knowledge, skills and values), which would contribute to a more holistic and consistent approach to youth work. The competencies that would contribute to the development of conscious and reflective selection of tools and methods for work with young people. We are aiming to spread the idea that in the centre of youth work is a young person and their personal development and not the self-realisation of youth worker, application of the most innovative methods or writing many projects. The aim of the project – through improving the competencies of youth workers contribute to the development of quality youth work idea in Europe. Objectives of the project: • Improve the understanding of youth work and youth policy field; • Develop core competencies that are needed for work with young people; • Strenghten the learning to learn competency in order to encourage consistent professional development of youth workers; • Introduce and try out traditional and digital methods and tools for youth work, develop a skill to critically evaluate them and use them purposefully; • Expand the knowledge and understanding of youth work and the profession of youth worker; • Develop the capability to work and learn in intercultural groups; • Encourage international cooperation in the field of youth. We are willing to implement this project, since the development of quality youth work is one of the main aims of our association and the needs of the members, volunteers and employees of all the organisations involved. The project will also contribute to the aims of Erasmus+ programme in the youth field – to contribute to the development of competencies of those working with youth in order to have stronger basis and be able to respond to the needs of different youth groups, their challenges and their needs. Main focus of the project – strong core of youth work that implies a good quality work with diverse youth groups, address their needs, and topics, use the most relevant methods (traditional and digital and ensure their harmony). The issues that we are willing to address with this project are: • Non-existant or non-systemic youth worker training in Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Romania, Lithuania; • Belief that anyone can work with young people and youth work does not require special preparation, education or certification; • Short, only project-based activities with young people; • Non-reflective application of newest methods and tools in youth work; • Non-extensive participation of youth workers from the countries with youth work history (Finland, Germany) in international youth workers mobilities which limits the opportunities for professional development.
