Objectives

The "International Music Week" (IMW) is based on the belief that music is a universal language that can be used as an element of integration, promoting young people from different backgrounds to come together to counter the rise of nationalism and disintegration in Europe. The IMW allows young musicians to play in a symphonic orchestra, an opportunity often reserved for young music students or professional level musicians, while at the same time benefit from the different social, cultural and educational backgrounds of the other participants. This combination of music and social learning objectives allow the participants to have a better understanding of Europe and the specificities of its member countries thereby becoming aware of the deep interactions between different European cultures and to recognize the importance of pluralistic identities in and for the evolution of Europe while at the same time develop a shared European identity through common values. The objective of the IMW is to promote the values of encounters, cultural and linguistic discoveries as well as human and musical exchanges between the young participants and the public.
