The aim of the specific project was to strengthen the capacity of career counselors of teachers of Valmiera pre-school education institutions and teachers of Valmiera general education schools by providing knowledge and skills about methodologies and practical tools to career counselors of Valmiera general education schools, as well as providing individual career counseling to students. Continuing education courses were intended to make a long-term contribution to the introduction of new teaching methodologies and innovative approaches, to improve teachers' skills and competences, to promote the formal recognition of skills and knowledge acquired through international training and, more generally, to a new European dimension. .
Significant changes are taking place in the education system in Latvia and another result will be expected from educational institutions in the future - pupil competence, where the task of pre-school will be to lay the foundations for pupils' transversal skills so that they can be applied in various fields. The Valmiera City Education Sector Development Strategy for 2016-2020 (hereinafter the Strategy) envisages ensuring the planned, purposeful and effective professional development of heads and teachers of educational institutions in accordance with the new educational development strategy and the development direction of educational institutions, which is in line with the VAP 2020 promoting the competence and growth of the staff of educational institutions.
