Objectives

Our aim was to familiarise staff with the principles, powerful techniques, tips and tools on how to plan and implement an innovative educational curriculum. We wanted our staff to be more aware of our students' emotional needs and behaviour and gain insights and skills on how to promote stronger classroom relationships together with creating a more positive climate in school for staff and students. As well as to instil and promote the effectiveness and need of work-life balance, satisfaction, effectiveness and appreciation in order to counteract stress in the workplace. Our aim was to empower our staff to use their new skills and join their European counterparts on the forefront of Education. We also hoped that this would motivate staff to seek further professional growth and encourage others to apply for such mobilities in the future as well as to start up other types of projects with European partners.

Background

The pedagogic philosophy of how learning is acquired, assimilated and assessed has moved to a more holistic, evidence based methodology. As a school we aim to support our teaching staff to acquire the necessary new skills to take on these new challenges on an individual basis as well as a collective. The need arises for our teachers to acquire these skills in a European context where they can experience a hands on approach, as well as verify best practices with European colleagues. This will provide the right motivation for our staff to implement these strategies with success and further develop new competency areas which are required within the current shifts in the Maltese Educational System.
