By selected training programme we wanted to offer our staff the opportunity to develop their skills or deepen their knowledge in areas that are relevant to their sphere of work. We wanted to exposed them to like-minded partners with whom they can engage in discussions on national contexts but, more importantly, on those strategies that can be synchronized in order to achieve maximum impact, as we believe, sharing of experiences is key to our growth and to the overall growth of the human rights NGO community. In particular, by one of selected activity in 2019/2020 we wanted to ensure our active involvement in European discussions on asylum, given the importance of this dimension also to Malta's specific national context. This was planned to be achieved through the participation of 3 of our team members of the highly esteemed ELENA training organised by the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE). We also wanted to deep our knowledge on the relationship between human rights, rule of law and good governance, again in view of the increasing importance of these issues at the national level. We feel that a strong human rights focus is needed in order to avoid a politicization of an already complex and difficult theme.
aditus foundation is a human rights NGO that is involved in advocacy to improve Malta's human rights framework (legislation, administration, budgeting, etc.) and legal assistance to any person requiring it, on a human rights theme. We are active in the areas of migration/asylum, LGBTIQ+, rule of law, access to justice and other secondary priority areas. aditus foundation firmly believes that the strength of our organisation and the impact of our voice is dependent on the strength of our staff. In order for us to be relevant and effective, we need to make sure that all persons working within the organisation are constantly updated on the national and regional discussions shaping our human rights environment. This is necessary if we want to give a good service to our beneficiaries and if we want our human rights advocacy to have the needed and desired impact. Therefore, we wanted to seek funding to cover our participation in different seminars from our present areas of expertise and which intend to strengthen our staff knowledge and organisation capacity.
