Objectives

We wanted to improve the level of English language of our teachers willing to teach in our bilingual stream. Furthermore, via CLIL we wanted to enhance effective classroom pedagogies, train our teachers to use different methods of teaching language to children during classes. Furthermore we did an internationalisation of curriculum in order to ensure that pupils acquire social, civic and intercultural competences, by promoting democratic values and fundamental rights, social inclusion and non-discrimination, as well as active European citizenship. Enhancing teachers’ and pupils' critical thinking and sense of responsibility on the international scope of the world by creating awareness on the topics of cultural identity, European cultural heritage and social inclusion. Also we did promote intercultural dialogue through all forms of learning and improving the quality of education through international projects that support STEM-education, 21st century learning and new trends in education. Teachers need theory and best practices to integrate this methodologies in their lessons.

Background

In 2019 we organised an evaluation questionnaire among our staff on the topic of students citizenship development. After analyzation we had to conclude that we need to internationalize our curriculum. Furthermore, back then, we just started a bilingual stream and in order to make this a success we have to educate our teachers to teach their subject in English and via CLIL didactics. This mobility project was composed in terms of both institutional and teachers’ needs: the institution’s European Development Plan for promoting the international scopat the world focusing on a changing world, migration and our local issues about the balance between traditions, identity and social inclusion, as well as the participants’ personal and educational development needs because of a changing view on how to educate in the 21st century, developments in STEM-education, CLIL and English language development. This project indorses this values and methodologies and this is an opportunity to improve the local area and bring added value to the development of teachers' linguistic, cultural and international competences.
