Objectives

Internationalisation contributes (a.o. the DConnect project) to the quality of the education and has a positive impact on the employability of our students. Internationalisation ensures more challenging education and contributes to smarter and more creative students. Our students deserve to gain international knowledge and skills. Through this they develop personally and gain a better adaptability and acquire better language skills. For staff members it applies that international cooperation gives them the chance to be informed of international developments to discover new educational skills and teaching methods. Learning abroad helps MBO teachers to place their classes in a professionally relevant and international context. Team Internationalisation targets DC and European aims which are important for a meaningful future. We prepare students for the society they will be living and working in. Since the Netherlands is more and more connected and intertwined with Europe and the rest of the world, we strive to make students internationally competent.

Background

One of the objectives we had for applying for and executing the Erasmus+ Project DConnect is that Internationalisation wanted to contribute to the aims as mentioned in the strategic plans of Drenthe College for 2019-2022. In this strategic plan DC describes four strategic pillars we focus on in period. These pillars are: 1. Everyone is welcome 2. A challenging teaching environment 3. Partner in the region 4. More than a diploma Internationalisation is categorized under pillar number 2. The teaching environment is made more challenging by means of internationalisation, but DC Connect has also contributed a lot to the other three pillars. Social inclusion is an important theme, all students and staff have the opportunity to engage in international learning experiences, either physically or through Internationalisation@home. In this way, together with our regional partners we prepare students for a society in which they work towards a worthwhile future and thus make out students internationally competent. In this way everyone is welcome at DC at then achieve more than just a diploma.
