In this project we had the following objectives: - further embedding of internationalisation on a strategic level in our organisation - structural contacts with similar schools and organisations in other countries for the prupose of allowing all our students to come into contact with the international environment. International cooperation with internships and training courses in other countries prepares our students for the future. In their working lives, they will frequently get in touch with companies or people from other countries. Students should have the opportunity to gain international experience. Therefore we offer students a the opportunity to connect with other cultures through foreign internships, exchanges and participation in Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 projects. - our teachers and staff must also be internationally competent. Through foreign teacher internships and cooperation projects, they develop (language) skills and gain professional knowledge. Themes such as digitalisation, innovative education and personalised learning are explored, compared and developed with foreign partner schools. - an increase of 10% in our international student and staff mobilities.
In the Erasmus+ mobility project "Crossing European borders" the Internationalisation office of ROC A12 aimed to bring about quantitative and qualitative improvements in three areas: student and teacher mobility and further embedding of internationalisation in our organisation. A wider range of international internships was offered to students and staff by making use of new contacts and partners in three ongoing KA2 projects. Two of these projects are concerned with issues such as digitalisation and innovative, personalised learning. Several educational projects are set up in our school in which the so-called New Learning (hybrid learning, Hattie, peer learning) is prepared and implemented. Learning and exchanging views on this in KA1 teacher and staff mobility has been a very useful and attractive experience for an increasing number of our teachers. For this purpose we cooperate with, among others, Innove and Tallinn University (Estonia), City of Glasgow College (Scotland) and Omnia (Finland). Together with our ROC A12 policy officers in education development and with our HR department we investigate where and how internationalisation can contribute to innovation of education and to talent development of our employees. This includes certificates and descriptions of international competencies (e.g. the Europasses) to be included in the portfolios of teachers and staff members. This, is of course also the case for students, but for them the Europass is a valuable addition to their resumes. Embedding internationalisation on a strategic level in our organisation was a key issue for us: we have been focusing on this in the last three years. Practically every team in our regional education centre has appointed one team member as the responsible person for internationalisation. The system with coordinators for each location works well. The new Strategic Perspective 2019-2022 of our Foundation COG contains a specific paragraph on internationalisation. This section clearly describes the importance of international student and teacher mobility for our school. It also underlines the impact internationalisation can have on innovative education and talent development of our teachers and staff. Student mobility is the main activity in our ROC A12 internationalisation programme as we believe it should be. We were headed for a substantial expansion of our international mobilities but halfway this Call 2019 project covid frustrated our ambitions. Nevertheless we succeeded in completely using our Erasmus+ budget with 75% realisation of our planned student mobilities.
